Patrice Travis Sunday July 11 to Thursday July 15

We arrived at the Borgo di Vagli compound about 5pm. Oh my goodness! This place is up up up up up a hill … after passing a castle … we made a right onto a small DIRT road …. For 3 miles. YUP 3 miles … up and down, left and right curves … you know the type of hill … mirrors positioned just so on the side of the road … beeping at every turn … hoping upon hope you don’t meet another car on the one lane dirt road with cliffs on the edge. Then, of course, you do. Smile Reminds me of learning to kay… Continue

Patrice Travis Saturday July 10

We woke up and drove to Pisa Fun street people … offering to help park the car … I took the time to teach my companions about how there can be accomplices down the street. Example: person one stands near car … after we leave, checks out what is inside through the window (thank goodness for hatchback cars with that rolling cover over the back luggage area … hides the contents). I had taken pains to say outloud “well, we have everything valuable with us” to my companions … he rather gave up … but… Continue

Happy Anniversary Tim ! Today we drove to Switzerland … actually a small hilltop town called Soglio near the border …. Butttttttt first … enroute I spotted the most amazing waterfall and stopped. It turns out you can swim at the base and down stream. Wow how refreshing … after climbing up to the waterfall and getting properly misted … we waded in! Soglio is amazing! So steep … and maybe 10 people live there Sweet little stone houses a road so narrow I had to do a 27 point turn to get through th… Continue

Patrice Travis Wednesday July 7

Drove back to the Milan Malpensa airport to pick up my peeps I surprised them right at the arrival door with a luggage cart and bottles of water Biggest surprise was that I waited to check out of my room … so that I could take them back and let them freshen up and take a nap before we took off for Lake Como. I now know to follow my instincts versus a GPS device. They brought a GPS, and it had us traveling on the west side of the lake to Varenna. Uhhhh it is on the right side of the lake. That… Continue

Patrice Travis Tuesday July 6

Forgive my punctuations … the Italian computer keyboard has the accent marks in different places Tuesday July 6 Hi I flew into Milan and was upgraded to business class Fun! I think the flight attendants grew tired of me playing around with the remote controls to the seat reclining and unreclining it. And of course, accidentially paging them every 2 minutes Cant wait to try out all the neato gadgets they gave me in my special kit! I flew in 1 day ahead of my travel companions to be able to rest… Continue

celiatanlo A European Tour

It was since I was able to enter college that I came to love Europe as I was exposed to western literature. I have imagined how it is to be seeing the famous architecture in Italy and Spain. The churches seem to play a lot of segments in the European culture. Not to mention, I have watched films like Before Sunset, Before Sunrise, and Chasing Liberty. I have enjoyed the sight of the book store Shakespeare and Company and have been inspired to wContinue
